Today started out super rainy and cool...just perfect! We love the rain, here. Michael wanted to move some things around in the living room just to spice up the appearance. So we moved the piano, and pulled all the books off the shelves, and started moving the bookshelves to the other room - when we spotted them...little pieces of fuzz that moved on thier own. Looking closer, they kind of looked like caterpillars without legs. We looked them up online and found out they were carpet beetle larvae. They feed on wool (or other equavilent). Seeing as we have a big furry dog that sheds her weight in fur daily, it's not hard to understand why these bugs found a good home with the fluffy fur that got trapped under the bookshelves. The best remedy was vacuuming, spraying a bug spray along floor/baseboards, and keeping it really clean. So we dug in and got to work. I took care of the bug issue while my husband fixed the two broken shelves on one of the bookcases. Bending, sweating, working hard, we got much accomplished and then took a walk together down to the mailbox with the dog.
See, what just started out as a quick and simple project, actually took several hours to do. But it was probably a good thing since we found the bugs before they spread to other areas of the house. And even though I burnt my finger on a hot screw my husband dropped while fixing the shelves, the results of the rearranged furniture are quite pleasing to look at. Especially since we know they are stable and clean. So it all paid off in the end. That's not just life, it's Lems life. And that's about all we could ask for.
